It depends. LA Lion King made a TON of money but a LA sequel about Mufasa paired with the recent Dinsey shortcomings makes it feel like a toss up. Not saying Sonic 3 will make a billion dollars but it'll be a closer race for sure

We need heroes who audiences can look up to, love to see in action, and be inspired by. Top Gun: Maverick was so great because the film didn’t deconstruct Maverick into something horrible - it let him be the good old Maverick that we all love - only much older, wiser. He still faced conflict with his relationship with Rooster, but it doesn’t create a permanent strain on his character. He still is proud to serve the US, has a girlfriend, etc. there’s a difference between total degradation of a character and introducing them to forms of conflict that challenge them

I still can't believe how atrocious dial of destiny was. Top gun maverick proves that you can still make a great sequel to an old property nowadays, but Indy 5 is literally everything I despise about modern Hollywood.

The people who had a problem with Will Smith are not haters he assaulted someone at the Oscars on line television I'm not saying it was the worst thing ever but let's not pretend people just turned on him

December 2024 is going to be an interesting month at the box office because we have The Lord of the Rings, Kraven the Hunter, Mufasa, and Sonic 3 are releasing in a two week period of time. It’s going to be intersting to see which one comes out on top. I also wouldn’t be surprised if one of them gets delayed or pushed forward a week or two.

Does anyone even look forward to this movie? Disney can't even make decent standard superhero flicks at this point, why should we trust them to make an R rated action horror film like Blade?

I agree with all of this Sean. I do think Kenobi was the better version of what they’ve (Disney) done so far. But not by much….overall, you’re correct. Not every character needs to he deconstructed…..it’s becoming very apparent in Disney Star Wars especially that’s their goal.

I kinda disagree with this take. Yes they’re deconstructed but it’s not like they stay that way permanently. It’s all about them overcoming their current state in life. Han Solo who is not a force user and has a hard time connecting with Luke, Leia and Ben on the whole Jedi stuff has to gain the courage to try step in that arena to save his son’s soul. Luke learns from his failure and becomes a true Jedi by using only defense and giving the last remnant of the rebellion a chance. And as for Indy, he’s always been a very VERY flawed character. Some of the choices he made in life such as in young Indiana jones and the actual backstory of Indy and Marion when you look up what Steven Spielberg and Lawrence Kasdan had come up with kinda paints Indy in his mid 20s as a bit of a scumbag. So I thought where we first meet him in dial was a very realistic approach for his character. It was all about him overcoming grief and falling back in love with his passion of archeology. “Are you back indy?” In my opinion I think it makes the most sense for a character like indy to not have a completely happy ending but a bittersweet one. And I say that with him being my favorite childhood hero. With characters like these I think it’s more important to see a more human approach.

You know it’s a good movie when it nearly gives you a heart attack

You know that is a strange thing. I feel like the Buzz one yeah he was just an old fart. But the thing is at least we still have the Toy version. This version were never going to see again.The problem with the others like Indiana Jones and Hon solo is that those characters keep getting older and theres nothing to change that. What I'm saying is that the Buz one isnt as bad because we still have the Toy version that made our childhoods. But the others one feel like theres no going back and feels like our childhoods have been ruined because of these choices that Disney has done. Hope that makes sense

I just watched the movie and now I'm so curious what was cut. Only one puts on the orange jacket at the end, so I feel a good portion of the movie had to have been changed if we never even see those outfits. Its interesting because I did find the movies final battle to be pretty average and comtained to one location, but in the trailer they are outside. Why the change? Could the OG cast only film inside and thats why they made the change? Very interesting...

Sam Hargrave is my pick. I love Extraction 1. I LOVE Jordan Peele but I can't seem him making Blade. He makes great movies but they don't stand out because of their action. I'd rather have him spend time on his own new original film

I think that’s partly because a lot of people today view history through that lens. They think all our heros were terrible people who deserve to be decontructed.

I completely and entirely agree. I don’t need to see my favorite heroes who can do incredible things be torn down and stripped of what made them cool. The idea can work, Logan and Rocky are characters that worked perfectly with that. The way it was done with Luke, Indy, and some others? It really didn’t bode well with me…

It sucks, and it feels like their so malicious with it. Why can’t Luke and Indiana be heroes? Why is it current Hollywood writers and execs want to see these characters be brought to their lowest points and have younger more “modern” characters supplant them when they are piggy backing off the success, goodwill and legacy our heroes have created. Who wants to see Buzz lightyear be this evil bitter selfish old man when everything we know of Buzz is despite his stubbornness there isn’t much he would not do or give for his friends. I don’t get where we are at right now with what’s meant to be our entertainment. Why does it feel like people in charge right now just want to burn old legacies instead of creating something new and original themselves

I think this can be done right best examples being Rocky in Rocky Balboa, Bruce in Batman Beyond and Logan

So, not Luke Skywalker, not Indiana Jones, not Han Solo, not Buzz Lightyear, but we're all cool with Wolverine being beaten down and broken in Logan. Oh, that's right. That was Fox before Disney.

I respectfully disagree there. Sounds to me like this is coming from an obliviously angry point of view. Yes, we all can/should love our heroes. But, realistically, they shouldn't be placed on a pedestal that is unattainable. Wolverine will forever be my favorite superhero, but I don't think he should be treated as such. But, hey, that's just my opinion.

Lion King made money because of nostalgia bait from older fans, not because kids want to see it. After seeing Disney ruin all my favorite IPs, I have no desire to see Mufasa. My kids, however, do want to see Sonic 3.

We’re also having Kraven on December, Sonic 3 will throw Mufasa and Kraven off the cliff.

It's obviously Mufasa. The lady one made one a billion and none of the sonic monies even cracked half a billion at the box office. I doubt they even made a profit. Not only that but both sonic movies and the knuckles show got mediocre reviews. The general audience will still watch Mufasa.

I agree with you, despite the comments siding with Sonic - the anti lion king thoughts are mainly in the film fandom and not general audiences. It’s like Avatar, most people within our community are negative about it but the sequel still did great

The Lion King (1994) is my favorite Disney film. I hate the 2019 live action film. I hope Sonic 3 smashes Mufasa.
