Star Wars fans aren’t toxic. Sadly paid journalists who don’t even watch Star Wars just select a few who fit their narrative, and sadly they mingle us normal fans with racist assholes like Nerdrotic and Geeks and Gamers. But if you meet anyone in real life, there are just casual Star Wars fans who mostly remember the original and prequel films who are more cordial than what the internet leads you to believe. The Acolyte is just a bad show, plain and simple. But it makes more clicks to sell a racist bigoted narrative

There’s no need for either extreme, but it’s perfectly okay to let a strong opinion be heard. Star Wars is for the fans, yet the majority of fans haven’t enjoyed anything aside from maybe TFA, Rogue One, and Mando S1. If people don’t speak up (respectfully, of course), nothing will change.

I watched the first 2 episodes of the Acolyte with my family and, honestly, they weren't that bad. Flawed, but honestly pretty good. I put of watching the 3rd episode due to how much hate it was getting, but I did and I didn't mind it either. I think from now on, I should watch new Star Wars stuff without hearing other people's opinions, because they don't put me in the mindset to enjoy it - and I'm looking forward to watching the 4th episode tonight. I can't believe I'm part of two fandoms (insert anonymous music fandom) that have to start culture wars at everything, while I'm sitting in the crossfire in the middle. Just stop!

God the mental gymnastics in this video have me dizzy. So wait its OK to say "hmmm maybe the Rebellion did some terrible things in the fight to do what they thought was right" But the Jedi couldnt have possibly made the same mistakes? Hell the Jedi doing questionable/misguided terrible things isnt EVEN A NEW CONCEPT. There was TONS of Clone War era content that showed us how in many instances the Jedi werent "all good all the time". Ki-adi Mundi is WELL KNOWN to have been what we would consider a "war criminal" with his brutality during the clone wars. One of the main reasons the Jedi Order of the Republic era ultimately fell was because the Order had become militant, dogmatic, had done questionable things throughout that era Hell even take it further back when it was the Jedi who had used the Mass Shadow Generator to end the Mandalorian Wars that killed an entire planet and created Darth Nhilus.

I used to be a huge Star Wars fan, I have so many books, toys and autographs. But ever since the sequel trilogy I have lost my passion for Star Wars, I watched some of the series, the first 2 seasons of the Mandalorian were good, Andor was ok. Ashoka was terrible, the book of Boba Fett was poor and when I heard about the acolyte I was not interested and by the sound of it, not many like the show. I have had discussions with fans who like the sequel trilogy and the show's and I have no issues with that but I hate when people call me racist or sexist because I don't like a film or show that they do.

I was in my single digits to early teens in the 2000’s honestly I would’ve loved to have been a fan back then. But now it’s like “damned if you do & youre damned if you don’t.” You can’t win for losing in today’s Fandom climate. It’s very depressing in that regard.

Headland should NOT have been able to get a show at all! That being said. This stupid mentality of End All Be All really started with The Last Jedi! & while to an extent I like The Last Jedi. If I myself could’ve prevented that Movie from happening than I most definitely would have. Because the scene of the split in half lightsaber symbolized the beginning of the of the end of The STARWARS Franchise as a whole. Also I got into Films as a thing to be into because I was mesmerized by the look & process of certain Films. Now they won’t shut up long enough to make any of it with actual merit or heart beat to any of it at all. It’s both pathetic & really sad. Don’t let President 45 become President 47 🤦😑

Yeah back in the day when Star Wars fans sent hate to Hayden Christiensen, Jake Lloyd & Ahmed Best I thought it was so crazy & I was a child seeing grown men send hate to them when all they did was their job & be told what do to do in the scenes. It's just gotten worse since social media bc we can see & say so much more now. MCU fandom too when someone gets cast & people send them hate even though haven't seen them in the role.

It’s not a battle, the Shows are Crap, the “Woke” stuff really only comes up after the fans see the show is garbage, because it becomes obvious to fans, they weren’t even trying to make a good Star Wars Story for us, they were just USING the Star Ware Brand as a platform to push an ideology. It feels like a betrayal! Fans would still hate a bad Star Wars show, but if the motivation to make good Star Wars was there and pure it would be different, there’s extra vitriol when you realize making good Star Wars was the last thing on Disney’s minds. The fans exist in Disney’s minds to steal money from and to call them Bigots & Racists, when it’s convenient, to push their ideology by creating an “Enemy” in the fanbase, that they know they can provoke by being so careless with something the fans love, like Star Wars. They also know, the “Woke” criticism will be the ONLY criticism the mainstream media gives any coverage to, because it doesn’t benefit their corporate overlords At Disney to discuss how poorly written, acted, directed & produced their shows are. We've got to move past amplifying the loud 1% on each side and listen to the rest. Those crazy people will always exist and being outraged regardless of how inappropriate they behave isn't going to make the problem go away. The average person who likes, loves, dislikes or hates The Acolyte isn't sending threats. Personally I cherry pick what I consider to be good Star Wars under Disney and voice my discontent about the rest. There are so many objectively bad shows / movies in the Disney Star Wars catalogue that given the budget have no reason to exist. Fans who are pushing back I think are just generally tired of this trash. Disney has had the IP for over a decade, they should have figured it out by now.

This is spot on. Unfortunately each new Star Wars project is treated with the same energy and intensity as a presidential election. The hilarious thing is, when you really stop and think about it, Disney Star Wars is and always has been hit or miss. Nothing more, nothing less. It's hit or miss like most properties. For every The Acolyte, Obi Wan, or Book of Boba Fett, they've also given us Rogue One, Andor, and The Mandalorian (at least the first two seasons). People act like they're incapable of just skipping a show they don't like.

Kathleen Kennedy puts us here with being a nasty bitter cu@t from day one, it amazes me of how the sequel trilogy was so sloppy and had no plan. The only thing that could save Star Wars down the road is if Disney sells it and the next company erases Disney Star Wars from canon. There's still no way to make up or have a do over with episodes 7-9 because I doubt Mark or Harrison will still be around if Disney ever decided to sell.

Couldn’t agree more about the discourse. It’s truly embarrassing as a Star Wars fan to see the fandom act the way that they do at times. It’s also sad overall to see what they have done with their shows and movies. Sometimes I wish that they would have just stuck with the original trilogy and not have made another show or movie. Yes we would have missed out on some great content (andor, mandalorian seasons 1 and 2, etc) but all of this hatred and arguments wouldn’t be happening. We also wouldn’t have to watch one of our favorite franchises go down the toilet.

The biggest thing is the pacing. The first two are brutally slow and while rots still has all the other problems the prequels suffer from at least it isn’t hard to stay awake while watching.

Imagine your favorite sports team wins 3 games and loses 14 in a season. Fans are not going to be happy and voice their frustration rightfully so. Most of the content disney lucasfilm has put out over the years has felt like “losing seasons” in the sports world.

I always come back to this channel because of the extraordinary effort to approach things with good faith.

I agree with you but what worries me is that the higher ups at Lucasfilm (not just Kennedy) are looking at the discussion around the shows/movies as engagement and that any kind of social media discourse means “the brand” is drawing eyes. I watched a few reviews about The Acolyte (including yours) when it dropped on D+ to find out what people I trust thought. Since then my UA-cam feed is populated with some positive but mostly negative reviews of the show. I know a lot of people are hate watching it to post things after and to Lucasfilm fans who ❤ it , fans who have issues with it, and those who hate it are all counted as views. Engagement =money for them. The issue will be if fans stop talking about Star Wars because apathy is death for a franchise. Until they see no one caring at all the people in charge can point to viewership and take what they see as the moral high ground (no pun intended). Ive been sort of checked out since Mando S3 (didn’t like it) and I haven’t watched Acolyte cause I’m taking a break. I’m also not convinced that any of the other major studios would do any better with the SW universe since they seem to be running most of their own franchises straight into the ground. IDK 🤷‍♀️ I still love SW but I’m taking a break for now. Also, you’re not a shill. I found you through Cody’s channel and I appreciate your balanced and thoughtful reviews even when we don’t agree ❤

I actually like the Acolyte and how different it feels from other Star Wars content. I think it's a breath of fresh air. But I don't say that often because anyone who admits to liking the show gets piled on by Star Wars fans saying how stupid they are for liking the show. I do understand the criticisms from some that it doesn't feel like Star Wars at all. But I AM baffled by how strongly it's hated. I feel like the Acolyte - being a TV show that hasn't been referenced in any other Star Wars property - is very easy to ignore if it's not your thing.

I wouldnt say Pixar is "back" because I think most of their recent movies, with the exception of Lightyear, have been good or great. Soul, Luca and Turning Red were all great movies that had no chance to prove themselves at the box office because they were sent straight to Disney Plus. Elemental was a solid movie, and stuck with me more than Inside Out 2.
